Kid Friendly Thanksgiving

Holidays, like Thanksgiving, can be difficult for the little ones. They are expected to sit and eat and behave all day. It can be a challenge to keep their menu healthy and the abundance of sugar doesn’t help with the melt-downs.

Here are a few healthy treats and a few games to keep your children (and some adults) amused.

Serve veggie slices or veggie chips in a cute turkey cup! Use construction paper to assemble this simple turkey face and glue to the front of a paper cup. Kids will love it!

Make a miniature cornucopia out of ice cream cones. Fill with fruits, raisons, and cheeses. Festive and healthy! Kids can even help assemble if its convenient.

Make these cute turkeys from cellophane gloves. Fill the feathers (fingers) with colorful goldfish and the body with potato chips , pretzels or popcorn. Attach an eye and beak or draw one with a sharpie.

This cute little guy is made with a pear body and sliced apple feathers, but you can use cheese, pretzels or veggie straws as well.

Some fun turkey facts for table discussion topics!

Give each child a wooden spoon and a yam or sweet potato. have them roll them from one end of the room (or yard) to the other.

Solo cup match game! find 9 small items (2 of each - 18 total) and place under the cups. Mix up and see who can match them all in the quickest amount of time.

Use: candy corn, raisins, peas, coins, feathers, marshmallows, crackers, nuts, pretzels, gum etc

Have kids, or adults race to transfer holiday colored M&M’s (or mini marshmallows) from one cup to another. Use a straw to suction the candy and lift.
